Quilts for Kids
Wednesday afternoons, 12:30PM - 4:30PM
Quilter's Corner is proud to join forces with Quilts for Kids, Inc., an international organization dedicated providing quilts to children suffering from serious illnesses or abuse while saving perfectly good, yet "unwanted," fabric from landfills. Quilts for Kids, Inc., a charitable organization founded in 2000 by Linda Arye of Yardley, PA, has made and distributed (with the help and dedication of many volunteers) tens of thousands of quilts worldwide; the organization has also re-purposed many millions of pounds of fabric, saving it from landfills.

Quilter's Corner now hosts weekly sewing sessions (Wednesdays, 12:30PM - 4:30PM) specifically for volunteers willing to dedicate time supporting this worthy cause. Quilts for Kids, Inc., provides us with kits containing a pattern and the fabric to construct either a 36”-square NICU quilt or an approximately 38” x 45” crib/lap quilt. You are also encouraged to bring 100% cotton brightly-colored kid-friendly fabric from your stash! When a quilter uses her own fabric stash to make a quilt, she saves QFK the cost of fabric, cutting, assembling and postage.
Volunteers are asked to provide low-loft batting **, machine piece, and machine quilt (no monofilament thread, please) their quilts. (Perfection is NOT required!) Please note that hand-tying is not allowed due to the potential choking hazard. Additionally, these quilts need a good amount of machine quilting to enable them to withstand daily washings. Lastly, please check for pins!!
Please bring your finished quilts to Quilter's Corner. We'll take care of washing and drying the quilts (with fragrance-free detergent), and be sure they get to headquarters for distribution.
** To help defray the cost, Quilter's Corner will discount by 15% any batting purchased for making these quilts, as well as any fabric you wish to purchase for donation. All donations are tax-deductible (fabric or cash).

Looking to spend some time relaxing with your sewing machine in the company of like-minded quilters? Join us for Tranquil Tuesdays, two Tuesday afternoons per month. Bring in your Projects in Progress (PIPs?), and spend time enjoying the comaraderie of your fellow quilters. |
Please note: There is no charge for participating in Tranquil Tuesdays; however, we have limited space available so registration for each individual session is recommended! Generally, we'll meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoon of every month from 1PM to 4PM. We look forward to seeing you! |
Give a sick child a smile! Cindy Kerr started making pillowcases for her son, Ryan, when he was in chemotherapy. It always brought a smile when she pulled out a new one before each treatment. She started making them for other kids, and can't keep up. You can help by making and donating a pillowcase for a child with cancer or life-changing illness. Quilter's Corner has many fun fabrics from which to choose, and we will discount by 15% your purchase of fabric for constructing these pillowcases. And, for the very busy quilter, we've made kits ($5 each!!) out of coordinating fabrics to simplify the process! Pick up a kit during your next visit, and drop it off to us when completed. We'll take care of the rest!

Not seeing a class that gets you excited? Quilter's Corner will gladly offer a class of your choosing! You pick the project and identify at least 4 participants; we'll work with you to schedule the date and time, and will arrange for one of our very capable teachers to teach the class to you and your quilting friends! |
