Classes and Workshops
Quilter's Corner is pleased to offer the following workshops. Please check back often, as we'll be updating our offerings on a regular basis. Stop in or call us at 610-459-8993 for more information or to register.
Important info:
- Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registrations by phone will be charged to a credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
- Supply lists will be provided upon registration. Unless otherwise noted, you must provide your own supplies.
- Please note that each student must acquire his or her own original copy of the appropriate pattern(s) and/or book(s); copyright law prohibits sharing or copying of these items!
- Unless otherwise noted, upon registering, students will receive a coupon for a one-time 10% discount on materials and supplies required for the class for which you have registered; additionally, you will be offered a 10% discount on all purchases made during the first day of class. You are encouraged to wait until the week immediately preceding the scheduled class to purchase required supplies, in the event that the class is canceled.
- Our minimum class size is 4 students. Although we do our best to not cancel classes, if we find the need to do so, you will, of course, receive a full refund. Decisions to cancel classes will be made and communicated at least 1 week prior to the scheduled class.
- If you find the need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible! In order to provide you with a quality program, our instructors invest a lot of time and energy in class preparation. Out of consideration for our instructors and your classmates, cancellations received within two weeks of the scheduled class will not be refunded.
- Cancellations received prior to two weeks preceding the scheduled class will result in a store credit.
- Class times listed on the schedule are starting times. Please arrive in time to set up and prepare your work area. Classes begin as scheduled.
- For classes requiring use of a sewing machine: Please be sure you are familiar with and comfortable using your sewing machine, and that your sewing machine is in good working order.
- Classes are scaled according to level of skill mastery expected in order to participate and have a positive learning experience. Beginning quilt classes, as well as those requiring minimal skill mastery are geared toward novices and are marked with a single diamond (♦), whereas classes requiring greater skill mastery are marked with up to four diamonds ( ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦). Note that classes with two diamonds require students to be comfortable in their basic sewing abilities; two diamond-classes are not geared toward novices.

If none of our scheduled classes gets you excited, Quilter's Corner will gladly customize a class for you! You pick the project and identify at least 4 participants; we'll work with you to schedule the date and time, and will arrange for one of our very capable teachers to teach the class to you and your quilting friends! |
Machine Quilting

Do you have beautiful quilt tops in need of quilting? Parhaps you want to finish them yourself, but don't know how or are afraid to try...? If so, this is the class for you!

Binding - The Finishing Touch
Sunday, Mar 14, 10AM - 4PM
Are you having trouble with that last and final step - the binding? In this class you'll learn how to measure for, cut, and prepare your binding. Then - you'll apply the binding to your quilt top and go home with only the hand-sewing remaining to be completed!

Paper Piecing
Sunday, Mar 21, 10AM - 4PM
Add paper-piecing to your quiltmaking repertoire, and you can be guaranteed of virtually perfect results! In the morning, Chris will teach the basics of paper piecing and prepare several samples. During the afternoon, Chris will work with participants on their individual projects - either ones you've already started and need help with, or perhaps you'll want to try a new project from the book used for the class.

Beginning Quilting by Machine
Eight-sessions: Wednesday evenings, 6PM - 8:30PM: Mar 24, Apr 7, Apr 14, Apr 21, May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26
Learn to quilt in this class designed for the beginner! This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabric, to make your quilting journey a successful one. You will make a baby- or lap-size quilt.

Pfaff Owners Class
Generally the last Saturday of every month
Next Session: Saturday, Mar 27, 10AM - 12Noon
Learn how to make the most of your wonderful Pfaff! Marilyn will instruct participants on different features every month. March's focus will be machine applique'. Learn how to applique' an adorable spring mini-wallhanging!

Additional Info: Participants are required to register, as class space is limited. The only requirements are: 1) Participants must own a Pfaff and use it during class; and, 2) If made available, participants must purchase the kit associated with the class of the month. |
Professional Tote
Two-session class: Thursdays, Apr 15 & 22, 6-9PM
The Professional Tote can be place on top of the Sewing Supplies Tote to hold your project supplies and cell phone and keys. Lots of pockets keep you organized.

The Next Step Up with Hand Applique'
Last Sunday of every month (generally), 1PM - 4PM.
Build upon your basic applique skills, and perfect your hand applique' during these monthly, hands-on sessions. Beginning in May, Dot will be instructing participants on advanced applique' techniques using designs from Jane Townswick's book, Applique' Takes Wing. This class is geared toward anyone interested in improving their applique' skills; the only requirement is that participants have a basic knowledge of hand applique' (such as that taught during the Beginning Applique' class). |

Beginning Hand Applique'
Three-session class:
Thursday afternoons: May 20, 12:30PM - 4:30 PM, May 27, 1PM - 3:30PM, Jun 3, 1PM - 3:30PM
Learn the art of hand applique' in this 3-session, hands-on class. Dot will instruct participants on how to applique' simple shapes such as leaves, circles, and stems. You'll also learn how to work successfully with layered applique', inside- and outside-points, and inside- and outside-curves.

Stir Crazy!
Two-session class: Saturday mornings, 9AM - 1PM: March 6 and March 20
Use a colorful Bali Pop™ (or other batik) strip set, and two accent fabrics, to create this very interesting quilt! The squares are constructed using a partial seam technique, and the border incorporates two appealing accent corners.
