Classes and Workshops
Quilter's Corner is pleased to offer the following workshops. Please check back often, as we'll be updating our offerings on a regular basis. Stop in or call us at 610-459-8993 for more information or to register.
Important info:
- Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registrations by phone will be charged to a credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
- Supply lists will be provided upon registration. Unless otherwise noted, you must provide your own supplies.
- Please note that each student must acquire his or her own original copy of the appropriate pattern(s) and/or book(s); copyright law prohibits sharing or copying of these items!
- Unless otherwise noted, upon registering, students will receive a coupon for a one-time 10% discount on materials and supplies required for the class for which you have registered; additionally, you will be offered a 10% discount on all purchases made during the first day of class. You are encouraged to wait until the week immediately preceding the scheduled class to purchase required supplies, in the event that the class is canceled.
- Our minimum class size is 4 students. Although we do our best to not cancel classes, if we find the need to do so, you will, of course, receive a full refund. Decisions to cancel classes will be made and communicated at least 1 week prior to the scheduled class.
- If you find the need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible! In order to provide you with a quality program, our instructors invest a lot of time and energy in class preparation. Out of consideration for our instructors and your classmates, cancellations received within two weeks of the scheduled class will not be refunded.
- Cancellations received prior to two weeks preceding the scheduled class will result in a store credit.
- Class times listed on the schedule are starting times. Please arrive in time to set up and prepare your work area. Classes begin as scheduled.
- For classes requiring use of a sewing machine: Please be sure you are familiar with and comfortable using your sewing machine, and that your sewing machine is in good working order.
- Classes are scaled according to level of skill mastery expected in order to participate and have a positive learning experience. Beginning quilt classes, as well as those requiring minimal skill mastery are geared toward novices and are marked with a single diamond (♦), whereas classes requiring greater skill mastery are marked with up to four diamonds ( ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦). Note that classes with two diamonds require students to be comfortable in their basic sewing abilities; two diamond-classes are not geared toward novices.

If none of our scheduled classes gets you excited, Quilter's Corner will gladly customize a class for you! You pick the project and identify at least 4 participants; we'll work with you to schedule the date and time, and will arrange for one of our very capable teachers to teach the class to you and your quilting friends! |
The Next Step Up with Hand Applique' Last Sunday of every month (generally), 1PM - 4PM. Build upon your basic applique skills, and perfect your hand applique' during these monthly, hands-on sessions. Beginning in May, Dot will be instructing participants on advanced applique' techniques using designs from Jane Townswick's book, Applique' Takes Wing. This class is geared toward anyone interested in improving their applique' skills; the only requirement is that participants have a basic knowledge of hand applique' (such as that taught during the Beginning Applique' class). |

Participants will progress through the individual blocks seen on the completed wallhanging pictured above, one block per month. Beginning Quilting by Machine
Saturday mornings, 9AM - 11:30AM: Sep 11, Sep 18, Oct 2, Oct 9, Oct 16, Oct 30, Nov 20, Dec 4 and Thursday evenings, 6:30PM - 9PM: Sep 23, Sep 30, Oct 7, Oct 14, Oct 21, Oct 28, Nov 11, Nov 18. Learn to quilt in this class designed for the beginner! This class will introduce you to quilting by machine and rotary cutting. You will learn tips and tricks, beginning with choosing fabric, to make your quilting journey a successful one. You will make a baby- or lap-size quilt. Magic Carpet Sunday, Sept 12, 12Noon - 5PM This quilt is absolutely gorgeous when viewed first-hand; the picture does not do it justice! If you admire "Kaffe Fassett" fabrics but are unsure of how to make the most of them, this is the class for you! Participants will learn to combine the colors and various textures to create a beautiful quilt!! This class is designed to accommodate the person relatively new to quilting (but with some experience), as well as the intermediate quilter. Learn how to use large prints to your advantage and achieve fine results in your quilts!

Sunflower Crazy Quilt Two offerings:
Session A: Thursdays, Sept 16 and Sept 23, 10AM - 2PM Session B: Sundays, Sept 12 and Sept 19, 9AM - 12Noon This crazy quilt embroidery project is quick, easy, fun, and really beautiful! Our shop sample is a wall-hanging, but this would make a beautiful table-topper as well. Additionally, this sunflower quilt can easily become a larger, throw-size quilt or bed quilt by adding borders. Level of Difficulty: ♦ Instructor: Marilyn Spicer

Woven Tumbling Blocks Two Offerings: Friday, Oct 1, 10AM - 4PM -or- Sunday, Oct 3, 10AM - 4PM (Note: Sunday's class is full, but we'll be happy to put your name on our waiting list!) Create a wonderful runner or placemats using a technique that combines weaving and sewing. The reversable runner/placemats uses tubes of three different fabrics - resulting in an appealing 3-D effect. And....no Y-seams to piece! Select a single border, or different borders for each side, and coordinating fabrics for the center! Cathedral Windows Saturday, Oct 16, 12PM - 5PM This traditional patchwork techinque, first documented in the United States during the 1933 Chicago's World Fair, has gained popularity as a borderless quilt design. In her book, Cathedral Window Quilts, Lynne Edwards puts a new spin on this gorgeous old classic. Beginning Hand Applique' Three-session class: Saturday afternoons: Oct 23, 1 PM - 4:30 PM, Oct 30, 1 PM - 3 PM, and Nov 6, 1 PM - 3 PM Learn the art of hand applique' in this 3-session, hands-on class. "Texture with a Twist" Jacket Saturday, Dec 11, 10AM - 4PM Is this jacket really made from a sweatshirt? this is the most commonly asked question of Jerri, the designer and teacher. The answer is: Yes! This beautiful jacket uses the sweatshirt for the jacket base and the pattern pieces. If you have never made a jacket, this is the perfect beginner class, and if you're an expert, Jerri will find something a little more challenging for you to add to your jacket. Venetian Tiles Saturdays, Jan 8 and Jan 22, 12Noon - 5PM Learn a new technique to incorporating diamonds into a quilt! Depending on your fabric selection, you may be reminded of those gorgeous mosaic tiles! The center of the quilt is created using the X-Block ruler, and the "extra" pieces that are lopped off when building the center are used to create the border. No waste!
